Meet Dennis
When Dennis joined the Mize Community Learning Services (CLS) community, he preferred to interact with the friendly RGA team members Dorothy and Patricia. As a CLS participant, Dennis explores employment readiness, recreation, exercise, and leisure, all while volunteering for local charities. Connecting his interests to productive activities is one way that Dennis is able to open up and develop meaningful relationships with like-minded people.
“I would like to be able to work again in the community,” says Dennis. The Mize CLS team members were especially proud when he added, “I enjoy making new friends!” Until he finds that job, he particularly enjoys making music with his CLS friends and volunteering for the Woodridge Food Pantry. Being able to lift up his neighbors in need is a source of independence and pride for anyone, but especially Dennis.
Community Learning Services programs operate throughout DuPage County, with hubs located in Burr Ridge, Elmhurst, Naperville, and Lombard. CLS provides people with disabilities the opportunity to make the most of their time in the community. Their days are meaningful because the CLS team members plan activities based on the shared interests of the attendees like Dennis.
